Rundown (5/31-6/06) The Japanese Localization Building-School

0 PGOS Racial Localization Friendship of JapanIn my dumb brain, companies like Idea Factory International, NIS America, Atlus, Aksys, XSEED, Sekai Project, MangaGamer, JAST USA, Carpe Fulgar, and anybody I’m forgetting all work in the same building located somewhere in California. The building is based off of the one blueprint that was used to build every high school in Japan circa 1950, and it is a complete mess. With random unlocalized games everywhere, old bootleg VHS tapes of “the hottest Japanimation”, a locker full of PSPs, this one incredibly disturbing classroom filled with full scale figures and body pillows, and dirty laundry that piles up every week until Jimmy clean up their blankets and graphic tees over the weekend. Then there’s Nana, who is just sad after spending three thousand hours a year playing everything this company produces, and is flat out disgusted by the tropes at this point. (more…)

Portal 2 Review

portal2-1I actually tried writing a review of the original Portal back when I first started this blog, and had starry eyed ambitions of garnering something of a following. Yet I ran into issues when it came to elaborating the review beyond three paragraphs, as there is not a lot to say about the game unless you get into full blown analysis, in which case you could write a novella about how well designed that game is. It’s the sort of title I like to revisit every year or two, and walk away impressed every single time. But after giving it a whirl, this time on PC, I decided to reach into my surprisingly shallow backlog and give Portal 2 another go. Well, make that goes, as I went through it once regularly, and once with the developer commentary. (more…)

0 SNAFU Youth CHild Kid I am not old enough to understand age this is ancient and out of my rangeSo, Kung Fury came out and everybody was happy with it. I personally thought it was an energetic and slightly disorganized little romp that knew what it wanted to be, and managed to be just that. It was an intensive labor of love that will likely not age all that well as the 80s children start dying out, and people wonder why the video quality can be so shitty at points. I get that it is a throwback to times of old, but while I think VHS tapes are cool and had quite a collection as a youngster, they are pretty crap when it comes to image quality. (more…)

Saints Row IV Review

2015-05-20_00076As the years have gone on, I feel as if I have gotten increasingly more cynical, and less permissive of things that I openly would have praised in year’s past. I do truly and always want to sing the praises of just about anything I believe to deserve it, but there are and were moments where I was a bit too excited and felt too justified in saying nice things that I ignored some of the negligence thoughts that now fill my mind whenever I play any game, which kinda sucks now that I think about it. 0 KLK COme at me bro I isn't afraid of anything will duke it out for all eternity great justice is my name asskinking is my gameI finished another semester of college, and probably have a ton more to go through in the future. My goals were a bit obstructed by improper information, so I’m going to probably end up with a duo of Associate’s degrees for Liberal Arts and Accounting. Another two years of Accounting at a real college may come next, but from what I heard that may not be necessary. I can just get a CMA and explore my options with that and a few years of bookkeeping experience. Also, I realized that I should not buy hormones without talking to a doctor, but that would require coming out as Genderqueer, and, yeah, that would be a super awkward and terrible time that may ruin everything forever… (more…)

Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim Review

ysnapishtim52Note: I re-reviewed this title in 2020. Please disregard this review.

If I had to give a brief summary of how the Ys series works in regards to its final products, I would say that the first few titles were more experimental than anything, involving large changes to the gameplay and point of view with each installment before the series hit a sour note with part V, and went away for a generation, only to come back with this title, Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim, and revitalized the franchise for a total of three games before changing up the gameplay once. I previously reviewed the spiritual follow-ups Oath in Felghana and Origin, both of which I liked quite a bit, but felt that many of the RPG elements of these games bogged it down, and its emphasis on story was a bit out of place in such a frantic high paced and cathartic action game. This being a prequel, not much has changed. (more…)

0 Mayonaka no X Giten cut off your balls because that would be a fun trans girl man woman thing to do masturbateI was going to make a post on NeoGaf about how I spent about 1.5k on games over the past two years, but ended up getting nearly 300 games in the end. However, I chickened out and could not bare to put my thoughts on a message board, because that is a great way to get murdered. I also bought a Chromebook so I could type things instead of sleeping while on the train, and am looking into buying some hormones because I should start HRT sooner than later. It won’t be a full gender transition or anything like that, as I think I’d be the most comfortable being Genderqueer. (more…)

Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse Review

maxresdefaultPart of me wonders if I have simply become too bitter towards games over the three years I’ve been reviewing them. I truly do want to see the good in all games, but my mind is so fixated on the negatives that I end up seeing so many titles I was genuinely interested in and more than willing to love as simply okay. Even if I am positive towards a game, I often wonder if I was too positive, and gave an opinion that was not accurate to how I truly felt about it. Plus, whenever I go against the general consensus of a game, I can’t help but wonder if I am wrong for holding such an opinion, and perhaps expressed it far too negatively. Anyhow, here’s a review of a stealth released PC port of a sequel to a game that I honestly struggle to determine whether or not I think is all that good. (more…)

0 PM whoops my bad sorry mistook you for someone else wrong person next after you dead dying die deathSo, this week I tried Killer Is Dead, and it made me realize that I simply cannot play Character Action Games that implement a grading system, meaning most of them, as if you get anything beneath the highest score, well, you are just fucking up. But not just playing the game, oh no, you are going against the developer’s intentions and are objectively playing the game wrong, and by extension you are ruining an experience by being too shit to handle a challenge that the title very clearly stats should be no problem for normal people. I honestly don’t know if I hate it more than a lives base system, as that method is a vile outdated archaic disgusting loathsome evil punishment based system that was implemented in order to inspire mastery artificially increase game length. But if you dare waste a resource as precious as life, you probably don’t deserve to have your own, you miserable little sack of maggot infested cum, mixed with urine, STD infested blood, Ebola, and bug shit (more…)

sword_of_edo_by_embervesent-d79z94mI really want to one day create a visual novel of my own, and am fully aware that it is not that hard to do. However, I am currently trying to do some regular novels before I aim to do something wherein I will need to find an artist to provide assets for me. Plus, I need to build up the writing talent I feel is necessary in order to create something worthy of being placed on sale at a digital marketplace, such as Steam… Kinda like Sword of Asumi, a $16 $12 visual novel I bought at a discount to help fund convince the creator to Kickstart a sequel, only to then see it as part of a $2 IndieGala bundle. Nigma Box Update 4/01/2015: No Jokes, Just Updates

1 DR Bored now going to get on with it next here we goAlright, as I am writing this I am just getting over a lump of depression and inferiority, which has technically been bugging me my entire life, but it has sprung up, I dunno, at least twenty times this year alone, which is probably not healthy, but so is having such shit output for the past quarter. That’s a fourth of a year and I’ve got 60 years left, so I basically just wasted .5% of my remaining life force, like an idiot… Okay, maybe the depression has just manifested itself in another form, but onto what I want to discuss… in something that is indeed going up on April First, but is not a joke in any way, shape, or form. 1 P4G looking at the sky and being with a bro summer spring nature this is the life of greatness so let's just get things back on the par of excellenceFor whatever reason I’ve been feeling very tired on weekends lately. I it probably to do with how I get about six hours of sleep three days a week, seven on the other two, so I am just sleep deprived and sit at home instead of going out to a place where I have a designated objective. However, that means I do not want to write during the weekends as I feel out of wack, which is just fan-tucking-fastic for my series of novels that I should finish before I die in… five years or whatever the life expectancy of Millennials is. Freedom Wars Review

freedom-wars-listing-thumb-01-us-psvita-15aug14I’m fresh off of a week of depression and inferiority filled office work that I spent my Spring Break doing, making it not much of a break at all, but the very concepts of breaks during schooling is nothing short of devilish, and they should be banned. I know that children should be instilled with hope lest they get mental problems, but those who have a ‘clean’ mind are those who do not deserve a spot in the utopian reworking of society of Genocider Jay… Also I played the hit Vita exclusive Freedom Wars for… I’d guess fifteen hours, got to the fifth mission set and decided that I played enough to review it, as the game was getting on my plums, and once you’re on my plums, you can’t really get off them. The amounts of ADHD that is poured into this mess of ideas and art that generally doesn’t look good, but was made by 20+ year veterans of the anime industry is staggering, but with a 149,000 Euro goal, I doubt that anybody would get the… what is it? DR2 Feel the DesPair You Little CuntI am aware that my output for reviews has lessened, but Neptunia was a massive time investment, and I just shelved World End Economica after a few hours, as I found the game to be more irritating than it was interesting. The main character is something of an entitled brat who does not respect humanity’s past, makes his money by playing the stock market, wears a scarf and shorts, and is a blatant misogynist, and I quite frankly was sick of both him and the side characters. The visual novel is also pretty irritatingly written, with most of its script coming off as awkward or as if it was not read through prior to the game’s publishing. So there will not be a review of it despite my tweets bad mouthing the game, as I’d rather play… Um… I’ll pick something. (more…)

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 Review

Hyperdimension_Neptunia_Re_Birth1_startI don’t think I ever watched any proper gameplay footage of the original Hyperdimension Neptunia. In preparation for writing this review, and curiosity, I gave it a glance, and it is amazing that the game was A, released, B, localized, and C, given not only two sequels, but spawned a franchise so large that, between June 2014 and Winter 2015 should be home to seven releases in North America, and two or more ports. The original honestly looks like the worst, slowest, most boring JRPG to ever have an even remotely creative idea in its head. It actually makes it hard to call Re;Birth 1 a remake, as it is largely unrecognizable as the same game in regards to anything beyond its base storyline and characters. (more…)

2015-02-08_00041So, I didn’t look too much into the whole Nintendo creator program last week, and assumed that Nintendo did get their stuff straight when it comes to wanting free promotion on the world’s leading internet video platform. But instead they very much force people into corners if they wish to make money by doing, say, a let’s play of one of their titles, which is foolish at best. I’ve been following the LP community back before it blew up as much as it has, and I have to say that the process is pretty time consuming, and the need to remain humorous and witty towards a game, especially when doing live commentary does take some work. Also, you know, they are showing gameplay of a title, and chances are that those who watch a title they think they may enjoy and have disposable income will purchase the title in question, thus getting you more than the paltry sum that ad revenue can get you. Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell Review

saints-row-4-gat-out-of-hell-listingI have professed pretty regularly that I have nothing shy of a strong affection towards the Saints Row series, well, namely to parts two and four. 0 BTM Wonders of MurderI’m pretty sure that I said I would purchase a GTX 970 a few months ago. I can still afford it along with quite a lot of other computer stuff, but the thing about upgrading is that there is little penalty to waiting if you do not urgently need something. Also, it may turn out that the GTX 970 has been falsely advertised as more powerful than it really is. Meaning I’ll just wait until the next wave of graphics cards come out before I pick my peach, as they are only going to get better… Plus, I should get some more RAM and a new monitor, as I’ve been saying for a year. *Grumble* Instead, I’m prolly probably just gonna get an SSD, as my HDD is making a beat I do not like.
