Rundown (11/25-12/01) Corporate Woes

Currently my school-based workload is diminishing, my mother is doing a lot better, and my mental state is in a more stable position, so reviews will resume on Wednesday, and a more structured format will hopefully be established in the following weeks. But in the meantime, the small assortments of stories I found noteworthy this past week all followed a corporate theme of sorts and, while ultimately positive, are difficult for me to not view in a cynical light. My reasoning from this universally stems from how much corporations get away with in these modern times, and how, well, following just about anything for years upon years causes people to become jaded.

Ah yes, the fabled time of bliss and joy amongst the greater western video gaming community is finally here. While the event has been made obsolete to a certain degree thanks to the digital age and preeminent announcements, E3 is always a time of great powerhouse excitement for those who follow the gaming industry, with a plethora of announcements and various bits of news to be taken in.

I recently purchased Cyberdimension Neptunia: Four Goddesses Online, because while I am rather critical of the Neptunia series, I genuinely like them, and cannot justify skipping out on a title. I managed to squeeze a spot for it into my schedule, but as I went to start it up on Friday night, I quickly ran into issues where the game simply did not work. The Steam forums were not enough to help me with my endeavors, as all methods I could find proved to be ineffective. The game runs, barely, but I can neither play nor refund it, so I guess I’ll need to wait until I get a new PC in order to try again, because Idea Factory is certainly not going to patch this game…

Good news everyone! After two years of me dragging my feet, I finally finished my latest novel, Psycho Bullet Festival: The Odyssey of Abigale Quinlan, and it will be out on April 27th for your reading pleasure. It’s been a rough road getting this thing to completion, but I managed to pull through to the end, and it wound up being my largest novel to date as well. I just hope that some people actually, you know, read this novel.  If no, then I may need to look into alternative distribution methods for my works… and commission some covers.

Rundown (4/08-4/14) To Be a Master!

So, you know how I’m an accounting major and how I previously mentioned that I am going to be done with school this August? Well, funny thing about that. In order to become a Certified Public Accountant, which is a goal of mine, one does not simply need a Bachelor’s degree as I thought. Instead, they at least 150 credit hours, which are best met by obtaining a Master’s degree. So, in short, I am going to start taking graduate classes this fall and should be done around December 2019, before then taking the CPA exam. And here I was looking forward to being done with school once and for all.

So, I did not talk about this last week, but I played a bit of Fallout 4 recently thanks to a free to play weekend deal. I was very critical of the game leading up to launch, objecting to a number of additions of changes made to the title, and after spending 4 hours with it, I feel that I was completely right to think that. The protagonist is severely limited by the inclusion of voice acting and a baked in backstory, the dialogue options are very poor at conveying the protagonist’s actual response, and the story begins with such a rapid and dramatic set-up that it all rings hollow. Then there are the overburdened crafting and town building elements that I know I would have invested 100 hours into if I actually purchased this title. (more…)

tired-link-by-brellom…The Hero is Defeated timeline in the Legend of Zelda annoys me. I understand the need for a timeline where Ganondorf ran free only to eventually be sealed by the seven sages without the help of Link, but there is an easier way to reach that conclusion. They could follow the rule of time travel that, whenever something foreign enters a new timeline, it causes that timeline to split off and allows for a new timeline to be created. So when Link travels to the future, he could end up splitting the timeline just by arriving there. So in A Link to the Past, the hero could have just never arrived. (more…)

Press Switch you are a poopy face doo doo head dumb dumb steamy boily feces shit fuck you suckSo, the Trans-Pacific Publishing trade agreement is a big thing this week, and it may affect all media in Japan, Australia, the United States, Canada, and more. It will increase the already overpowered corporations’ power, is vaguely written, and will exacerbate the problems with copyright laws, laws that have been mangled and mutilated over the past few decades. You could be deemed a criminal for having the audacity to leak information that the public ought to know about, even if it’s something as simple as a game being technically broken upon release. Tampering with software files would be illegal, from removing DRM, to fixing games, and potentially even mods, which would be viewed as hacking. Piracy could be met with the destruction of your hardware and neigh unlimited fines, and this whole thing was written by corporations for it, so why in the fuck would any true human being support that shit? Seriously, the fact this democratic government would so much as consider this sort of putrid pulsating piece of poo for a second is disgusting. (more…)

0 KLK How did you read my mind I do not like it when you know my throughts prediction to my reality guessed right good jobI am still working on my second proper novel, The Malicious Abigale Quinlan, in case you are wondering. Development has been a little hectic to be honest, but after rewroking certain parts of the story while keeping the core events the same, I feel I will be able to finish writing it by year’s end. Although, I will need to do some editing afterwards, which will take me about a month or so. Alright, onto a #FucKonami piece. (more…)

Portal 2 Review

portal2-1I actually tried writing a review of the original Portal back when I first started this blog, and had starry eyed ambitions of garnering something of a following. Yet I ran into issues when it came to elaborating the review beyond three paragraphs, as there is not a lot to say about the game unless you get into full blown analysis, in which case you could write a novella about how well designed that game is. It’s the sort of title I like to revisit every year or two, and walk away impressed every single time. But after giving it a whirl, this time on PC, I decided to reach into my surprisingly shallow backlog and give Portal 2 another go. Well, make that goes, as I went through it once regularly, and once with the developer commentary. (more…)

0 Mari entire life was pointless about jerking off cum times orgasm fun worthless die in a fire you fuckerOkay, GDC week, and it was pretty full of goodies, but I want to first highlight a Kickstarter that I cannot believe exists, and it is for an anime series by the name of Devil’s Legacy, and it looks like a complete and utter scam if you mixed it with a genuine and promising series. The amounts of ADHD that is poured into this mess of ideas and art that generally doesn’t look good, but was made by 20+ year veterans of the anime industry is staggering, but with a 149,000 Euro goal, I doubt that anybody would get the… what is it? A 8-10 minute short? Which are you promoting with some artwork that looks like it was done in 8-10 minutes, though I suppose that if you have “100 main characters” you should expect the quality to be spread thin. XCA Gut PunchI’m really not sure what to say here. I guess I should say that there will be a review of X-Change Alternative this week, a title I purchased to feed a curiosity of mine that was not very satisfied. I did get limited edition Steins;Gate masturbation tissues though, which made the purchase of what will probably be my only physical PC game a bit worth it. For whatever reason I also bought X-Change 3, which is far less of a porn game then I would claim Alternative is. So I’m picking away at it and Sonic Adventure DX… What the hell do you mean by “relevant” games? (more…)

CDI Carrying Random Gorilla of JoySo, I just barely have enough for a post this week, as it is the middle of January and people are still getting back into the swing of things after a holiday break. I do not have enough time to come up with a creative intro, as I’ve been trying to plow through the insanely large Assassin’s Creed IV. 27 hours in and I’m 39% done. I like myself a fine long game, but this is utterly nutterly buttery, Ubisoft. Other than that… screw it, wait for my review of that after Just Cause 2 and Marlow Briggs.

feminism-derpaherpOkay, another short week, and then a week with a good amount of news that I wasn’t particularly interested in. I can make a post out of that, I think! Just as long as I don’t need to talk about them new Call of Duty features. Though, the infographic and ability to finally use a female character are worth noting if only for how big this series has become, and how long it took before them Fem-models were thrown in.
