So this past week I began another engagement with a CPA, wherein I aid him in various tax related activities while juggling my office job, grad school, personal time, and time spent making content for this quaint little site. It is a side job that pays well, and is rather pertinent to my interests as an accounting major, but it also represents yet another activity that impedes my ability to go through games or work on my own projects. It’s not ideal, and this week is a particularly hectic, since I am going into my part-time job today, on a Sunday, when the office is closed, because somebody thought it would be a nice treat if I went home early on Monday. I swear, I was mentally referencing last week’s header image for the past 5 days, stewing over how much I wish I had done everything sooner rather than later. Garf!

Hello everybody. While I initially said that I was not going to start up the whole Nigmabox train until mid-January, I have been feeling a lot better post-surgery than I expected, and have been somewhat productive when it comes to playing games, so I figured that I’ll resume my usual review and rundown schedule. I was actually going to start things up sooner, but, well, I could not find enough noteworthy new stories to do a full Rundown, hence why I’m bundling together three weeks of news here.

Considering I have a website primarily dedicated to game reviews and news, it should probably come as a surprise that I never so much as touched a Playstation 2 with my own hands. I had opportunities to play the system at a friend’s house when I was a little kid, but I never took advantage of that and instead preferred watching them play. It is the best selling video game console of all time, was the prominent one during a bulk of my childhood, and the fact that I never did, and likely never will, play a game on the thing just makes me feel like I’m doing something wrong. Then again, I sometimes feel that way about existing, so I’m probably just a bit of a fool for getting worked up over such a semantic thing.
And E3 is done… Kinda. Yes, I know the first proper day just happened, but after the press events, my work is mostly done, and 90% of the announcements are out of the way. It’s just impressions from here on out, which is just dandy in my book. However, Nintendo, Square Enix, and AMD all had press conferences, so I’ll just get to explaining what the blazes they were about, and what my Autistic mind thought about them. (more…)
I’m really not sure what to say here. I guess I should say that there will be a review of X-Change Alternative this week, a title I purchased to feed a curiosity of mine that was not very satisfied. I did get limited edition Steins;Gate masturbation tissues though, which made the purchase of what will probably be my only physical PC game a bit worth it. For whatever reason I also bought X-Change 3, which is far less of a porn game then I would claim Alternative is. So I’m picking away at it and Sonic Adventure DX… What the hell do you mean by “relevant” games? (more…)
I… I had very high hopes and extreme fears when this game was coming out, and when I picked it up a while ago. I am not good at character action games by any means, but was so taken in by the soundtrack that I felt I had to go through the game… which I did one and a half times. Still, saying I cleared, or beat the game would be a lie, as I only got through it on the super easy mode, and after repeating two encounters for two hours, each, I hit my limit and ceased my proper playthrough. I was half joking when I tweeted out “Likes: Metal Gear Rising Revengeance. Dislikes: Playing Metal Gear Rising Revengeance.” But no, that was far more accurate than I intended and… Let me explain this relationship properly. (more…)
…I actually had two intros prepared for this post, but as the Steam Sales just entered their final day an hour before preparing to post this tiny post and I just bought them, I feel like talking about them. I made out well in terms of the titles I got, but the same cannot be said about my wallet. Sure, my games per dollar ratio was pretty good throughout and I did regain a nice pool of variety before going into the replay bin, but I also ended up cleaning my plate of every PC game released before 2014 that I wanted to purchase and eventually play. It actually felt pretty good to clear out the spreadsheet I made to keep track of them, but it also brought forth the reality that the number of games I want that were released, or will be released in 2014 is massive. 41 titles I have yet to buy, and now my job fueled wallet is looking at lot less bulky.
Gotta keep on posting stuff or else I will be set on fire by the God King! Row Row Write The Power! (more…)
