Wherein I discuss how I cannot complete a simple child-level task, a potential revival of a niche game series nobody actually cares about, a faux celebration by barons of incalculable greed, the Kotick-Epstein Connection, and a Semi-Dope Nintendo Direct.

Rundown (06/17-06/23) The Conclusion of Chaos: Part 1

So, this past month has been very hectic for me on account of having had the audacity to take two summer college classes at the same time, which is an undertaking I would not advise anyone to do, as it eats up your time and can be a source of undue stress. However, the completion of these classes indicate that I am nearly done with school, as I am within arm’s length of my bachelor’s degree.  For most people, that would be the conclusion of the chaos that is school, but I have resolved myself to becoming a Certified Public Accountant, and in order to attain such an elusive goal, my educational pursuits will need to continue for at least 2.5 years.  So while the act of ending this semester and doing all the work I needed to attain a bachelor’s is a considerable landmark for me, the true end of the chaos that is secondary education won’t be until 2020 at the earliest.

Rundown (9/10-9/16) Video Games Can Hurt Sometimes

So, I recently picked up Metroid: Samus Returns, and while I enjoy the game quite a bit, I have one resounding problem with the game that is not the fault of the game. It’s that the original model of the 3DS is downright horrible for action intensive games. Maybe I am just clenching the system too hard, or not distributing my fingers properly, but after less than an hour with the system my hands started getting sore as the system dug into my palms and my fingers contorted themselves into an awkward claw so I could press the miniscule shoulder buttons. Maybe I’m just getting old, seeing as how it has been almost 4 years since I played an action game on the 3DS, but… wow does it feel bad to use. (more…)

Rundown (7/02-7/08) I’m Surprised by My Ability to Function

I don’t really talk about this too often, but I do not have a very high opinion of myself. In fact, you could say that I have a problem where I doubt my abilities, capacity, and blame myself for things that are not even remotely my fault. So when I am able to surpass the low expectations I set for myself, I am often surprised. I mean, the fact that I have been able to do very well in school for the past 7 years (3.5+ GPA) and have been able to maintain a regular job for the past 3 are both things that I never thought possible. Heck, back when I was 10, I thought I would struggle to ever finish high school, fail to ever be employed in any capacity, and die before I reached my twenties via an accident or suicide. Anyways, onto the video game news. (more…)

Rundown (4/23-4/29) I Never Played a PS2 Game

Considering I have a website primarily dedicated to game reviews and news, it should probably come as a surprise that I never so much as touched a Playstation 2 with my own hands. I had opportunities to play the system at a friend’s house when I was a little kid, but I never took advantage of that and instead preferred watching them play. It is the best selling video game console of all time, was the prominent one during a bulk of my childhood, and the fact that I never did, and likely never will, play a game on the thing just makes me feel like I’m doing something wrong. Then again, I sometimes feel that way about existing, so I’m probably just a bit of a fool for getting worked up over such a semantic thing.

Rundown (4/09-4/15) Q1 2017 Was the Best Quarter for Video Games

Recently, discussions have begun about how 2017 might just be one of the best years in video gaming, as the first quarter of the year was home to an excess of stellar titles. However, I can’t help but find any of those claims to be a bit overly presumptuous, as the year is still beginning. But if people were instead talking about how Q1 was the best quarter in the history of gaming, then that it both entirely justifiable, and those people are probably right considering the number of great games that came out in those 90 days. The only one of which I played was Dragon Quest VIII… Man, I am really disconnected from the cultural zeitgeist. (more…)

0 PL Computer Technology ConsoleI finished school for the semester, am almost done with the initial draft for my next novel, or rather novella, and I just built a new computer, and have spent the past few hours getting everything up to snuff. It required a lot of editing and modifying to the main software itself, mostly through things like Classic Shell because Microsoft doesn’t deserve the borderline monopoly they have. So look forward to game reviews based on far stronger hardware, and some more graphically demanding games. (more…)

0 KLK DOuble Friendship surpriseWell, 2015 is now upon us. It is a nice number, multiple of five, and has a nice calendar. It also happens to be the year where I will set a few of my upcoming novellas during, as I am the sort of guy who needs to tell the reader the date when writing a story. It is a dumb obsessive trait that I will probably never work out of, mostly due to how I doubt anybody will ever talk to me about my stories. Hell, they are a secret to everybody I know off of the interwebs, partially due to how I lack any friends… (more…)

Fuck E3

It is rather pointless for a little slice of nowhere blog with only a small number of views to do a summarization of the E3 press events, especially when they were not watching them live due to real life events, such as work. But I got home to catch the latter two, and catch up with the former before Nintendo did their event and managed to get everything done before Tuesday’s end… well after everybody and their brother did their own version of this, and often far better than my assorted ramblings that are made all the dumber by the insertion of anime screencaps. It’s Nigmabox’s third annual Super E3 Rundown!

pussy fart…Look, I just took a bear sized poo and spent my entire day around a bunch of talkative women who I call family for the second day in a row. I am trying to juggle with writing review, editing my novel, and just picked a subject for my research paper after trying to find one all morning. I’m working tomorrow morning, have a Borderlands 2 Partway Review going up on Tuesday, and am murdering my backlog to the point I only have seven games I want to play on Steam, but haven’t played them elsewhere. Space FartsNow what antics do I have to begin this week’s assortment of recapped game news? Well, I’ve been playing Psychonauts, and committed heresy by not liking the copious amounts of jank that it shares with Beyond Good and Evil. Also I’ve been reading the Dragon Ball manga, which is pretty rad and weird, but was very clearly made up as things went on for a bit too long. Also, I have narrative qualms about Attack On Titan, which I’ll post a review of before the end of the month. Now what else happened aside from GTA V being a thing? (more…)
