Rundown (2/04-2/10) Natalie Needs to Stop!

So, you know how I posted my review of Fire Emblem Heroes earlier this week and ended the review by saying that I would stop playing? I’ve been learning how hard that actually is and that lifestyle games are pretty much the worst thing I could have ever gotten into. Knowing that if I stop playing the game, I may forever miss out on various bits of content is genuinely disconcerting to me, and because of that, I do not know how to distance myself from the game. I need to stop, but it’s hard!

Rundown (1/14-1/20) Too Many Visual Novels!

In case you have not noticed, for the past few months I have been reviewing a lot of visual novels on this fair little site, with the genre comprising nearly half of my reviews since halfway through 2017. Now, this was not really a conscious decision on my part, and has more to do with how I simply have a large number of visual novels on my list of games to review, and far fewer games of other genres. I have a number of reasons for this, such as visual novels being less prone to disinterest me after playing them for a brief while and less likely to suffer from notable technical issues, but the point is that I am going to keep reviewing a visual novel every other week for the foreseeable future.

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony Review

Following the Danganronpa series over the past few years has been a turbulent ride, spanning over two excellent visual novels, a decent third person shooter that I should really revisit, an anime series that I railed on for 7 pages and still feel as if I was being a bit too generous towards, and various fan translated spin-off media that I never really checked out. However, all of that seemingly comes to a close with Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony.

Disgaea PC Review

The Disgaea series is one that I have already held at least a passing interest in, as it’s art style, humorous sensibilities, grind and growth centered gameplay, and generally playful tone all struck me as things I would love if I gave it a try. With the release of a PC port of the very first game, it seemed like there was no better time to get into the series and, um, I don’t really like it. (more…)

Rundown (5/21-5/27) Cheap Cheap Cheap’s The Name of My Soul

I have probably listened to the soundtracks for each of the Parappa games about eight times now, and find myself constantly humming and thinking of the lyrics whilst I do other things. Also, I ended up making a recording of me trying to sing one of the songs despite the fact that I cannot sing worth a toss and know next to nothing about audio editing. I hope my voice does not sound too atrocious. (more…)

WhassupApologies for not getting a Hyperdevotion Noire review up. Work, school, and family stuff all cut into the time I could put into that game. Review should be up tomorrow evening. Also, on May 31st I will (hopefully) release a novella I’m currently working on called Maple Loves Senpai. It’s a story about a Japanese schoolgirl who gets absorption powers and is guided by the voice of her lover to consume people in order to transform herself into his ultimate waifu. Many stereotypes and dark themes ensue. (more…)

0 P4G apathy upset mad cruel king queen princessIt just occurred to me that I have no idea what a comma splice, independent clause, and dependent clause are. The could be due to my own foolishness, but I like to think it’s because my school placed me in remedial English during my middle school years. I’m not sure why, as I was always a B student, and my writing was actually praised by a few teachers. This school district also sent me to play with the down syndrome and retarded children once a week in third and fourth grade. Because Autism, I guess. Now my autism causes the state to pay for my super level schooling and probably pays people to care for those retarded adults. (more…)

Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair Review

20160422204136_1

Coming off the heels of the overall well received port of the first Danganronpa game on PC, Spike Chunsoft and Abstraction games released Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. I originally reviewed the Vita version in 2014, but I like to think that I’ve grown substantially as a writer since then, and I am always willing to support companies, especially Japanese companies, when they support the PC marketplace with niche titles.

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Review

2016-02-18_00036

After many requests from people who don’t own PlayStation Vitas, and an announcement that there were no plans to port the Danganronpa series to a new platform, Spike Chunsoft decided to bring this beloved little visual novel franchise to the PC market. I originally reviewed the Vita version in 2014, but I like to think that I’ve grown substantially as a writer since then, and I am always willing to support companies, especially Japanese companies, when they support the PC marketplace with niche titles. So on with the review!

Danganronpa: Another Episode – Ultra Despair Girls Review

2015-09-09-213227About a year ago I went through the two mainline DanganronpasTrigger Happy Havoc and Goodbye Despair, both of which I thought were fantastic games about deception, murder, hope, despair, and being very dark while also being profusely silly and overall fun. As such, I was quick to order a copy of Ultra Despair Girls, which acted as my one full-priced retail purchase for the year of 2015, and I had high hopes that it would be among my favorite titles of the year, but that’s unfortunately not the case… (more…)

0 KLK COme at me bro I isn't afraid of anything will duke it out for all eternity great justice is my name asskinking is my gameI finished another semester of college, and probably have a ton more to go through in the future. My goals were a bit obstructed by improper information, so I’m going to probably end up with a duo of Associate’s degrees for Liberal Arts and Accounting. Another two years of Accounting at a real college may come next, but from what I heard that may not be necessary. I can just get a CMA and explore my options with that and a few years of bookkeeping experience. Also, I realized that I should not buy hormones without talking to a doctor, but that would require coming out as Genderqueer, and, yeah, that would be a super awkward and terrible time that may ruin everything forever… (more…)

0 P4G Being Japanese and loving japanese life as a weaboo nerd geek sugoiI’m aware that talking about my desire to start taking female hormones is a bit inappropriate for this blog, but it is ultimately mine, I decide what I talk about and how, and nobody really cares enough to stop me. It’s a place where I will host a story I am still in the outlining phase of, which will probably end up being a proper novel due to how long its getting.  Kinda like what I expect from a review I promise to do for Gender Bender DNA Twister Extreme… and seeing as how it is a slow week as far as I am concerned, I’ll invest a paragraph to this rubbish. Super Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair Review

2014-09-20-155322

Note: I re-reviewed this title in 2016. Please disregard this review.

How long has it been since I cleared Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc? About a month? Well, I certainly did not want to wait very long before diving into its sequel, Super Danganronpa 2: Sayonara Despair… Except it is simply titled Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair because… reasons. Still, this shows how excited I was, and it was helped by hearing a few claim the title was better than the first one, which I loved if you don’t recall. A status the sequel is positioned in as well, but how much is the question I am here to explain to you.. and a bit to myself, I suppose.

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Review

danganronpa-wallpaper-all-charactersAn updated 2016 review of this game has been posted here

Danganronpa’s apparent existence outside of Japan prior to its official release is something that confuses me greatly. Yes, there was an anime adaptation made three years after the first game’s release, but the original PSP title recieved a fan translation which was apparently something of a major hit with a certain subset of kids on Tumblr. Maybe I was just not paying enough attention to a title I never even knew existed until Zero Escape’s Director mentioned how he was buds with the Director of Danganronpa, but I guess that does not matter now, as I had a $20 bill I was willing to place into my Vita for a quirky dark visual novel that I expected to be somewhat similar to Zero Escape, but comparing the two is more than a bit difficult after going through the basic premise. Despite getting frustrated by self-imposed handicaps, scheduling, and the fact I just don’t like proof reading my work more than once, I absolutely adore doing this. Not only do I feel accomplished when consuming media, but it helps me understand it a lot more, and what exactly make something good. In addition to working on a large backlog of media, while revisiting old favorites simply due to how I enjoyed them years ago when I first heard of them. And now I am, at least I hope, able to adequately explain why I like them. With ToraDora being one of the later, and I have to say, it holds up pretty darn well.
