For about three years now I have been attempting, and succeeding, in posting regular weekly game reviews, and while I am somewhat proud of my ability to maintain a schedule like that, recent circumstances in my life have made doing so increasingly difficult. A mixture of work, grad school, and other real life obligations have limited my free time, and I simply cannot play through games quite as often as I used to. Furthermore, over the years there are a collection of lengthier titles that I have been neglecting due to my desire to maintain a schedule and, well, I want to get around to them sooner than later. I will still try to post reviews as often as I can, but as things are ramping up with school, and missing a week becomes more and more likely, I want to let you know that I may have periodic spurts where I only update bi-weekly. Either due to how I need to work on school projects, or I’m playing a 50 hour visual novel over multiple weeks.

With Pre-E3, or PRE3 as I like to call it, gearing up with the expected preamble of last minute announcement, showcases, and, of course, information leaks, I should probably inform everybody that I will not be able to cover E3 in my usual fashion. As you can see from the header image, my upcoming schedule will be rather busy during the first half of summer, and I will have very little free time. Heck, I doubt I will even get to watch any press conferences in full on Monday. I would complain, but this is how the world works, and those who take umbrage with it have many colorful ways of separating themselves from it.

Whatever backlog of games I’ve accumulated over the years has petered away as of late. Partially because I more or less abandoned my backlog for the seventh generation of consoles when I switched to PC, and mostly because I am rather flippant when determining whether or not I want to put a game in a virtual rubbish bin. So now I’m emulating games I played four to five years ago, such as Xenoblade Chronicles, as I never delivered on the review I promised in posts I’ve since removed from this blog. (more…)
So, Kung Fury came out and everybody was happy with it. I personally thought it was an energetic and slightly disorganized little romp that knew what it wanted to be, and managed to be just that. It was an intensive labor of love that will likely not age all that well as the 80s children start dying out, and people wonder why the video quality can be so shitty at points. I get that it is a throwback to times of old, but while I think VHS tapes are cool and had quite a collection as a youngster, they are pretty crap when it comes to image quality. (more…)
Work is my reason for not doing a game review last week, and I will be sure that I have one ready this week, and probably two the week after, as I will dive into the visual novel bin upon completing Dark Souls. I have not been in the mood to write after waking up at 6:30, being put on a train, working for seven to eight hours, and then going on another train, arriving back home ten hours later, and only having about six hours before I gotta go to do my bedtime stuff. Well, 2015 is now upon us. It is a nice number, multiple of five, and has a nice calendar. It also happens to be the year where I will set a few of my upcoming novellas during, as I am the sort of guy who needs to tell the reader the date when writing a story. It is a dumb obsessive trait that I will probably never work out of, mostly due to how I doubt anybody will ever talk to me about my stories. Hell, they are a secret to everybody I know off of the interwebs, partially due to how I lack any friends… (more…)
