I want to apologize for not putting out my next story yet. Over the past several months, I’ve had problems determining exactly what I want the story to be and the tone I want for it to adopt, but to compound it all, my free time has been limited more than it ever has been. Between school, work, video games, writing a weekly review and rundown, and talking with my incredibly good friend, I just have not had the time. Or if I did, I lacked either the headspace or motivation to continue the story. It will take a while, but trust me when I say this story will be completed. (more…)
Rundown (5/31-6/06) The Japanese Localization Building-School
In my dumb brain, companies like Idea Factory International, NIS America, Atlus, Aksys, XSEED, Sekai Project, MangaGamer, JAST USA, Carpe Fulgar, and anybody I’m forgetting all work in the same building located somewhere in California. The building is based off of the one blueprint that was used to build every high school in Japan circa 1950, and it is a complete mess. With random unlocalized games everywhere, old bootleg VHS tapes of “the hottest Japanimation”, a locker full of PSPs, this one incredibly disturbing classroom filled with full scale figures and body pillows, and dirty laundry that piles up every week until Jimmy clean up their blankets and graphic tees over the weekend. Then there’s Nana, who is just sad after spending three thousand hours a year playing everything this company produces, and is flat out disgusted by the tropes at this point. (more…)
Rundown (8/24-8/30) Gamergate =/= Gamersgate, Buttface!
Okay, so this whole Zoe Quinn, Phil Fish, JonTron, “Gamer” validity, Journalism Debate, thing that apparently has been dubbed #Gamergate by some dolt, which I think will result in 37 murders, 7,208 layoffs, and 72 company deaths, has been going on, and I’ve lost track of what the hell is happening. All I really gathered was in the form of 4Chan deciding to fund a game made entirely by women, and creating the character of Vivian James, who I will end up using the design of in something I have yet to properly outline. She will probably have a Di-Sword or some shit. Oh, and thanks to TotalBiscuit for keeping a calm head about the situation and making this peachy keen blog post. But let’s not talk about that and instead, let’s just talk about VA-11 HALL-A a bartending sim about “waifus, technology, and the hard lives of post-dystopia citizens”. If it was on the Humble Store and had a Steam Greenlight page, it would already have my $8. Seriously though, check it out! (more…)

Hey, I don’t know if I’ve made this abundantly clear or not, but I’ve written a novel that is available through this link for you to purchase off of Amazon for a dollar. I know I am pushing this super hard, but I really do want to have 100 people read through this thing I’ve done, because I placed 11 months into the project and do not want it to go unnoticed. Rundown (3/09-3/15) This Was The Only Image I Had for Spring
With my recent apathy toward a few minutes of Monaco and refusal to play a game with as terrible lighting as Doom 3, I now have four games left on my Steam library that I designated as ones I should play. Mind you, I have plenty to replay on PC, but now all I’m left with are a gore fest, a game with terrible text and no controller support, a $5 impulse buy, and a game I dropped 16 hours into back in October. So forgive me if I decide to focus on anime reviews for a while, which should actually be refreshing starting when I review Kill La Kill on the 31st.

Wow, I totally forgot I had Nigmabox Rundown’s one year anniversary last installment. To think, I’ve been using pictures from random anime while bitching about video games for a year… well, let’s make it two, as I’ve got at least a hundred more of these in me. Even if it does mean I will need to scrape the bottom of the barrel with things like Flappy Bird, a game that I saw people more or less code back in high school that caused a form of controversy that I quite frankly do not get, mostly due to how I believe the game is, or rather was, free. Is it unoriginal and lazy? Pretty much, but that doesn’t mean it deserves anybody’s attention. Rundown (8/04-8/17) Nah, I’m For Reals Nega-Sexist Or Something
Okay, another short week, and then a week with a good amount of news that I wasn’t particularly interested in. I can make a post out of that, I think! Just as long as I don’t need to talk about them new Call of Duty features. Though, the infographic and ability to finally use a female character are worth noting if only for how big this series has become, and how long it took before them Fem-models were thrown in.
