Today I cleaned and reorganized my room. Now half my shelves are empty, and my computer is no longer lodged between two pieces of furniture. I also got rid of loads of toys and back issues of Nintendo Power, keeping a few for myself though. Why? All because I wanted to move my computer desk in my shoebox of a room. Which is stuck as it is due to my bed having five drawers under it and four shelves behind where I lay my head. I also did the washing at my weekend. How was your day pen pal from Ya-Pann?
Hey, you know what was a letdown that should’ve only surprised a handful of people? Batman Arkham Origins! An unwanted prequel to two of the most praised games of Gen7 due to how they managed to not only be a super licensed game, but a very finely crafted duo from an otherwise unknown developer. With Rocksteady hopefully branching out something new when they release their next game in 2014. Yes, I personally would prefer something that does not follow up on a flop, even if it does happen to be good, as only when a franchise is gone for two years can it be possible to really miss it. Yes, Assassin’s Creed and Call of Duty both make mad bank doing the opposite by becoming annual, but if the response from everybody is an indication, you need more innovation than whatever Arkham Origins did. Also, the hell is up with the first two Arkham games being $6 with some stocking stuffers for the current Humble Bundle?
Not that it will be alone in 2014 releases, as they will likely be confirmed rather frequently in the coming times, with Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes launching in spring 2014. With a $20 price tag for digital downloads that included the four expected consoles, oddly leaving out the Wii U and PC. With the former due to how Twin Snakes exists because Miyamoto asked for it, and later due to how I recall murmurs of a PC release. That, and I don’t want my consoles to turn on. While The Last Guardian is not coming out next year by any stretch, but is moving in the right direction. Whenever a game is delayed this much, I always have the hope that the final product will be Daikatana. As hype is something I love, only when the final product lives up to it, and otherwise I feel as if it should be punished with the worst street trash.
What is not street trash is Microsoft, or at least in their latest move where they will be providing the indies they came crawling back to with free Unity. From what I’ve heard, Unity is not all that expensive in the first place, but if it helps more people make more games, then I’m all for it. Except for how this sounds very much like that other free indie service Microsoft did with the 360, namely Xbox Live Indie Games. A wretched hive of scum and villainy that, is the Disney land for cynical assholes like myself who want to pay $3 for something that will be worth talking about. Hell, I am still upset I never played Don’t Die Dateless Dummy.
Why? Because it was freaking terrible in all the best ways! However, I put my 360 in a bin and put that bin in my closet after I vacuumed it at my weekend. Hell, I put my TV in the cubby hole that was filled with garbage for a decade until I said no more, and the trashman must come take it out. Wich I could use to segway into the Wii U, namely how it will get core games in 2014. Yeah, like Donkey Kong Country 5, Xenofunk, Yoshi’s Yoicks Yarn, Bayonetta 2, Mario Kart 8(Well if AniCross was considered core…), and Super Smash Brothers… Damn, that’s actually a pretty darn nifty line-up. I’ve got nothing to say aside from I super want at least two of those games.
But hey, let’s pull the tragedy lever by talking about Swapnote. A messaging service Nintendo launched in I forget that closed as of November. What brought forth this shift? What else but bad child sex doodles. Now, this is a bit rash from what I can gather, shutting down a service because one bad incident happened seems to be very short sighted unless it involves a child in a duffel bag buried with a copy of Dianetics (A free game to whoever knows what I’m referencing). But Nintendo will probably introduce some new messaging service for the 3DS, hopefully when they finally learn how to make it play nice with the console. Seriously, why can’t I play FF6 on the handheld I paid $250 on!
Yes, yes I do have a normal state that I return to when talking about anything Nintendo related before looking at how bossanova Super Mario 3D World looks. What was not super bossanova was Call of Duty Ghosts from what I can tell anyhow. With the expected anticipation, it seems to have finally been the game to his the ceiling with the franchise as Activision’s big stat was how it shipped one billion. Meaning that the creators will need to think very carefully about their next move, as they have taken a dent, but are still seaworthy. Or maybe they will just drive their boat into a spiky rock and somehow explode.
Which I should be easily able to transition into Pokemon, but I’m finishing this up when I’m procrastinating by doing everything else I can do and only as little as possible for the thing I need to do. …Huh? Whatever, Pokemon’s art director wants Gen7 to be simpler. Now, I’m getting over my ten days, meaning 240 hours with Pokemon X. A game that I far from 100%ed, but got 589 Pokemon. Which is why I’m hiding my 3DS until I get Zelda, because I spent way too much time on the complexities. Hell, I probably remember where every Pokemon was found.
School Days review is comin’ on Tuesday, it s’not no Martial Hearts, but that pop be stank, dawg! I’m going to bed.
