Rundown (8/25-8/31) The Pursuit of Hard Work

While working at my office job I frequently catch my assorted co-workers ceasing whatever task they were in the midst of or simply passing time by socializing with others.  It is an activity that I understand in small instances, but many of their conversations go on for 15 or more minutes, and center around unrelated minutiae rather than anything work-related.  Which I personally find to be… wrong at least to some degree. I approach work with a very regimented and task oriented mindset, and while I do take time to check my email or RSS feeds on occasion, I always go back to whatever needs to be done, and try to finish the task in an efficient manner.  I suppose this is just due to how I have a more serious work ethic, but it regularly surprised me to see people take such a lax approach to their professions, especially when they have families to take care of. Maybe that’s the right approach to take, and I’m just a fool for working so intently, or maybe they’re just a bunch of slackers.  I dunno.

Rundown (3/18-3/24) Break Time is Work Time!

Ever since I started working part-time in 2014, that part time work quickly became full time, or at least close to full time, whenever I happened to have a break from school. Spring break has meant that I work for a full week, winter break rounds out to a full month, excluding holidays and half days, and summer amounts to, well, near full time work for several months, where the projects just keep on coming. I’m not complaining about this, I just find it odd how a “break” to me now means that I wind up working more than I would otherwise.

So, I did not talk about this last week, but I played a bit of Fallout 4 recently thanks to a free to play weekend deal. I was very critical of the game leading up to launch, objecting to a number of additions of changes made to the title, and after spending 4 hours with it, I feel that I was completely right to think that. The protagonist is severely limited by the inclusion of voice acting and a baked in backstory, the dialogue options are very poor at conveying the protagonist’s actual response, and the story begins with such a rapid and dramatic set-up that it all rings hollow. Then there are the overburdened crafting and town building elements that I know I would have invested 100 hours into if I actually purchased this title. (more…)

20160706215444_1So, I managed to revise two of my most recent stories this week, and next week I am both ending a job and attending school at a big girl’s university. Life is going to get hard and hectic, according to my mother who never attended university. Though, I’m not worried about that. I am sorta worried about getting out content regularly, but I think I should be able to publish 52 game reviews this year and finish up Psycho Bullet Festival 2: Bury My Children. Oh, and publish a Rundown every Sunday. Header image is by NSFW artist ModeSeven.  (more…)

0 TWGOK ToiletSo, my plans for building my new PC have fallen through yet again, and my confidence is somewhere down in a toilet, being eaten by rats, as opposed to living on the streets where kids throw rocks at it and call it gay. Anyways, here’s a recap of happenings in the video game industry over the past week. (more…)

0 Watamote I am Defeated and hate you wrong man for this screw yourselfSorry there was no review this week, I’m pretty swamped with work for the next month or so, meaning I am working full time, and Dark Souls is an 80 hour game, if not longer. Still, I released my novella, A Vile Doohickey, as a Christmas gift to the world, and released it on the 21st because it was done before my deadline. Oh, and I think Christmas is a good reason for a lack of progress in regards to anything, even if I did not really enjoy mine that much. It was a day where I got about $200, and spent about 73 of those dollars on Majora’s Mask 3D, Freedom Wars, an SD Card for my 3DS, and some bodily hair removal cream, as shaving one’s legs is annoying. XCA Gut PunchI’m really not sure what to say here. I guess I should say that there will be a review of X-Change Alternative this week, a title I purchased to feed a curiosity of mine that was not very satisfied. I did get limited edition Steins;Gate masturbation tissues though, which made the purchase of what will probably be my only physical PC game a bit worth it. For whatever reason I also bought X-Change 3, which is far less of a porn game then I would claim Alternative is. So I’m picking away at it and Sonic Adventure DX… What the hell do you mean by “relevant” games? (more…)
