Wherein I discuss my busy and ‘hard’ life, a new dinosaur, a sudden stake through the heart, a continued western push, a rising thunder, the future of Sony, the continuation and compilation of the Compilation, Anthem’s third death, and new highs and lows for the Pokémon series.

Rundown (3/24-3/30) Japan Vs West: A Statistical Battle!

A topic that I regularly see brought up in the circles I follow is the idea of western game design versus Japanese design, what distinguishes them, and how Japanese game design is better. While it would be easy for me to say that I tend to prefer Japanese games, I’m the sort of person who likes to have data for things, and as such, I decided to go through every game I played from 2016 to now, and compile whether or not I have a preference towards Japanese games. What I found is that things are split fairly evenly between both fronts, as in that time I played 156 games, 53% of which were Japanese, and 47% of which were western.

Hanayome wa Motodanshi

Yep! I am still going to post these every Sunday because gosh darn it I really do find pleasure in reviewing the happenings in the video game industry every week and talking about them. It’s fun, cathartic, and does not take up a lot of my time. As such, Rundowns will carry forth for the next… however long. Also, I completely failed to contribute to a conversation for 3.5 hours yesterday, so I’m feeling like a ripe little turd at the moment. (more…)

0 PL Japan Breasts Woman FanserviceI’m not sure how often I’ve brought this up, but I think that Free to Play games were among the worst things to happen to the industry in recent years, and there have been a lot since I got in this industry’s intestines, mostly the large one, where poop is dried out, around 2006. But after reading this little piece by somebody who has been getting neck deep in whale blood as his employers tried to manipulate individuals with mental problems for the sexiest thing in the mortal world, Kentucky granola, also known as USD, I feel I have an opportunity that I shall not waste, if only because I love the line and it is mostly true. Free to play games were a mistake; they’re nothing but trash. I hope they are outlawed by 2033, when the Great African War begins and half of it is destroyed by a nuclear explosion. Buy War Bonds in preparation of the war to end all wars! (more…)

Vain
You can easily decipher this title, right?

Okay, so, I am working full time this summer, for those who do not know, or just stumbled onto this post, and that means I cannot spend all day in E3 mode. It makes my nights very hectic, as I try to pick up the piece right after getting home, but I went through Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft, and Sony’s press conferences, amounting to over five hours of footage, while writing up some quick thoughts on the opinions on the video games, as I have been doing since 2012. Without further ado, I’ll just get right to it. (more…)

Rundown (7/06-7/12) Apathetic Cynicism is the Baddest Feeling

0PGOS Bombs of outrage and angerI’m not sure what it’s been about this week, but I’ve been on edge for the majority of it. It’s not that anything bad happened, it’s just that I’ve been playing a title that no longer makes me feel feelings akin to joy, enhanced by how I played one of my favorite games in the past few months as a break from it. It also didn’t help that nothing much happened in the industry as the summer is a time to plow through game development for a winter or Q1 release window that cannot be changed. Well, things did happen and were said, but none of them were that good sounding, yet I suppose that can be considered the mainstay for this industry’s news. Or perhaps it is due to how cynical its audience has become after years of bullcrap pecking away at them affecting how they perceive a hobby they still love, but cannot see entirely past the layer of feces placed over it… or something like that. *Farts* (more…)

0 KLK Psycho Ping Pong Lady of Ultimate weird robotic what the fuck japan this is crazy eights up in this bitchHey, I just found myself a cool fact: Nintendo’s got 10.5 billion in the bank. Meaning their doom and gloom is totally exaggerated. Does this mean I will stop yelling at them though? Not until I get two new 3DS Metroid games, a proper Paper Mario 3 on 3DS, a more refined sequel to A Link Between Worlds on 3DS, a handheld that I actually like holding unlike the 3DS, and a team of thirty qualified professionals to help make my dream Pokemon game a reality… on PC. I’m willing to not settle for the last one. Nintendo’s problem is that they created an audience that expects so much from them. Also, GDC happened and I’ve gotten to episode 20 of KIll La KIll, so I am cooler than any of y’all cucumbers. (more…)
