Rundown (7/15-7/21) Cultural Apathy Rising!

Something that has become very obvious to me over the years is how disconnected I have become from various other aspects of “nerd culture” to the point where the only thing I follow is video games, occasionally catching wind of an anime, show, or film, while rarely ever partaking in any of those. This was not a conscious decision, I simply just lost interest in many of these things and let them be as they were, focusing more on the few things I care deeply about, and trying to make time for them as I gradually gain more and more responsibilities. I bring this up mostly because it is Comic Con, and there is much fervor about various announcements, most of which I really couldn’t care less for. Well, except for the trailer for the Invader Zim movie, which looks pretty cool.

vlcsnap-2016-11-19-13h51m38s078Well, this Black Friday sure sucked for me. I wasn’t able to get the $100 New Nintendo 3DS because they were made available online before I thought they would be, and were quickly sold out because Nintendo of America loves undersuppling for some reason. Square Enix also hosted a sale on their storefront, but the three games I initially wanted to buy for 70% off received a price hike by the time I tried purchasing them. Though, the absolute worst thing is probably how very little news happened this past week on account of all of these sales, so this week’s rundown will be most brief. (more…)

tumblr_mkk7p3JzsE1qeldg8o1_1280So, I just finished my latest writing project, Maple Loves Senpai, and within a short while I will begin working on Psycho Bullet Festival 2: Bury My Children. And by work on, I mean outline, as I only have loose concepts and idea, a very basic structure, and a rough estimate of the cast. I hope to get this done in three months, as I will have lots of free time over that time period, but I’m not making any promises just yet. Anyhow, time for disposable talk about video game nonsense. 0 GUP Oh shit crap potato chips wuzzatPartially because of my own sheltered nature, and the fact that I never go out because of school or work, but it’s always really exciting for me to hear random people talk about video games. Even if their conversations are a bit vapid and underdeveloped, as they are not as familiar with the language of games as I am. Still, I got to hear three people talk about Firewatch, and that brings me much joy in the medium as a whole as well as leading credence that the landscape of the medium is improving. Yes, it’s circumstantial evidence I’m using to backup a hefty claim, but it makes me feel a bit better about this medium. (more…)

0 Mari freak on a leash mosnter devil demon destyer bad omen death to all who oppose me welcome to the abyss of dieBecause I’m a complete idiot, I keep on thinking about the design documentation for a game idea that I’ve had for a couple of months. A sandbox game with destructible… everything, where you play as a schizophrenic shapeshifting demigod who switches between four core personality types depending on how the player wishes to have them act. What do you do? Absorb people, disguise yourself as them, cause domestic disputes, and war crimes of just about every caliber as you destroy a futuristic city designed after the late 20th century that automatically rebuilds itself whenever you destroy it, and people respawn. It would cost millions to make, and as such will never exist. A body swap centered visual novel, however, that I can probably do by myself if I hire an artist. Or I could just use Eroge sprites like Student Transfer or Press Switch. Both of which I’ll review come their next build. (more…)

0 GUP Let's Do This And Go Home. GrumbleI am not in the mood to write an intro right now. I am hindered from a lack of sleep, am finishing up this semester of school, and am trying to get myself to edit A Vile Doohickey, when I keep on searching for distractions. I’ll edit chapter five after this goes public, so… here is an unimportant blurb about two mid-sized events in the video game industry.

0 Haganai Objectively This Is The BestWell, next week I’m starting school again, and I am honestly kinda bummed about that. Not because I dislike school or anything, as Highschool involved me going to classes with teachers I liked, doing homework in between, and then fucking off to write stuff for this very blog. It was great. But last year, when I began college, I was met with one okay semester, and one semester I remember nothing of, the one I remember nothing of, and learned nothing from, was my previous one. Oh, I did learn things, such as just because a person have a form of pedigree and are a novelist doesn’t mean they can’t be a disturbingly stupid person. Oh, and this semester I’m taking classes I’m taking for credits, and I know I will dislike the majority of the them with the other one being a class I can thankfully do with my sister, which should be kinda neat. So in conclusion, I would rather be in High School again, even if I had to get up at seven, and have started classes on August fifth. Just give me two days off so I may work at an office. (more…)

0KLK Because of that we are soul sisters and don't you forget it broskyE3 has come and gone for the year, returning next time for event number 21 during June 15th to 18th, but that is too far away to remember. Instead, it is enough to remember everything that happened, and what happened outside of the press conferences. That is what this post is for, but it also covers unrelated events that occurred at the same time, because that’s just efficient. I am sure to be missing a lot as I fixate on the things I care about, but here are my Krimskrams of information as always. (more…)

Fuck E3

It is rather pointless for a little slice of nowhere blog with only a small number of views to do a summarization of the E3 press events, especially when they were not watching them live due to real life events, such as work. But I got home to catch the latter two, and catch up with the former before Nintendo did their event and managed to get everything done before Tuesday’s end… well after everybody and their brother did their own version of this, and often far better than my assorted ramblings that are made all the dumber by the insertion of anime screencaps. It’s Nigmabox’s third annual Super E3 Rundown!

Diggers Go To JailYeah, past two weeks have been slowing down, and everything is going to wind to a halt come the post Christmas lull. With people looking forward to a very fruitful Q1 for 2014, and looking back at the prior year to hand out awards, which I plan on doing along with some work on the actual infrastructure of this blog… I basically did that, apparently. Now to just finish the draft for Punky & Yuccot: A Post-Apocalyptic Adventure.
