E3 has begun, and thankfully the duties have been spread apart this year, with the previously mostly vacant Sundays are now being used by two major press conferences. Meaning that I only have three more to go after pushing out this post right at the cusp of midnight because Bethesda thinks it is good to have a press conference at 9 PM PST. Also, the title of this post is not a lie. I do more work per day during the Monday and Tuesday of E3 than I do during any other time during the year. Especially this year, as I have to work and attend class while E3 is going on. Anyways, on with the rundown. (more…)

Rundown (11/06-11/12) Let’s Not Address the Elephant in the Room

vlcsnap-2016-11-13-11h06m26s288I’m going to avoid talking about the thing that happened over the past week and go on a completely unrelated tangent. Why do some Japanese developers insist on using 2D animated anime cutscenes in fully 3D games with a high level of visual fidelity and an anime-esque art style. It doesn’t happen much, but whenever it does, it always looks poor in comparison to anything done in-engine, as the level of detail in the models and the smoothness of the animations are better than anything that could reasonably done by an outside studio. Yet some games still make use of this practice, the first that come to mind being Catherine, Danganronpa: Ultra Despair Girls, CyberConnect 2’s Naruto games, Dragon Ball Xenoverse, and even the upcoming Persona 5. Metro 2033 Redux Review

20160923194028_1This game has been sitting in my “games to review” queue for quite a while now, and I’m not really sure why. True, I was not the biggest fan of Metro: Last Light, but I do have fond memories of playing the original Metro 2033 years ago and a remastering like this would ideally improve whatever shortcomings that game had. Ideally, but in trying to fix a few things, it turned what I recalled as being a delightful little experience into a far more annoying one. (more…)

Rundown (5/18-5/24) P4G Is The “Objective” Form of Evil

P4G Portal to the meat dimension what is this madness and insanity fuck it in its bug buttholeI realize that these intros have become Persona 4 Golden playthrough summaries as of late, but that’s what I’ve been spending more time on than most people spend working a full time job. It is a colossal behemoth of a game that I love and loathe in ways I hope to convey properly with what will hopefully be my blog’s second year anniversary post… oh, wait, I guess this is actually it… Why did I think it was the twenty-seventh? Oh, that’s when I poorly reviewed Kid Icarus Uprising, my first published review exclusively for my second blog. Guess it will just need to be the honor of being the 135th game I reviewed for this site… That’s actually quite a lot for two years if you really think about it. Oh well, pre-E3 pickings time!

KLK You Must BE Really Lonely to do that you loner solo individualHey, I don’t know if I’ve made this abundantly clear or not, but I’ve written a novel that is available through this link for you to purchase off of Amazon for a dollar. I know I am pushing this super hard, but I really do want to have 100 people read through this thing I’ve done, because I placed 11 months into the project and do not want it to go unnoticed. Yet I’m still gonna be here talking about them video games and get people pissed off if they decide to comment… I’m cyber lonely. (more…)

Metro: Last Light Review

Metro-Last-Light1Funny story about how I got Metro: Last Light. I was just getting into the PC gaming in July when I was directed a link to snag the game for a penny… legally. The reasoning was that there was some error on Best Buy’s part and I managed to get the game before it was fixed. Why did it take me so long to get around to seeing as how I really liked the 2033rd? Well, I wanted to play the game in ranger mode, waited until it was on sale, played it, and realized that ranger mode was pretty terrible due to how it is impossible to know how much ammo you have. Backstory handled, so let’s talk the twenty-thirty-four! (more…)

Metro 2033 Review

349878163_orig

I hate it when titles take me forever to get around to, and this one was hanging in the balance for about two months. But after using an extended weekend to plow through this title that I would expect 5+ million people to own due to how it was $0.00 for a few days. Still, I am insane and can’t go through something and not write about it unless my thoughts are totally indifferent, so here’s what I thought of the title, and two months before the sequel.
