Wherein I discuss terrible new web design, the new Mario World, raking in them Bells, a scientific two-fer, and even more mobile trigger happy havoc.

Wherein I discuss the new social horizon, a much-awaited and underwhelming present, and some epicly good publishing deal.

Wherein I discuss those wacky Nintendo fans, the new horizons of the GOAT time vampire, a positively gothic revival, the continued fumblings of East AR Wars.

Wherein I discuss the woes of work, high frame rate mecha action, a wonderful reprisal, and a new gloomy horizon.

Woo! E3 is mostly over, and the hype has undoubtedly causes every audience member to burst with powerhouse excitement, and things may have gotten more than a little messy in the process. Anyways, the main conferences are done, the actual E3 event, where people try to get work done in a loud, crowded, and smelly convention center, is underway, and the only press conferences of the day was Nintendo’s. So let’s cut all pretense and jump right into the gooey center of the E3

This is such a petty thing, but the way Pokemon Bank subscriptions are handled really bothers me. At first I thought that if your subscription lapsed, you could more or less indefinitely recover your stored Pokemon, but no, they are erased from the server after a while, and then they are gone forever, which is utter nonsense, especially considering how renewing one’s subscription works. You need to wait until you have 14 days or less left on your pass before you can extend the subscription, and if you forget, say goodbye to whatever is in there. No email notifications, no nothing. I have a near complete Pokedex (I missed Marshadow a while back), a box of shinies, alternate forms, and a Ditto with 3 perfect IVs in there. Do you know how upset and fundamentally broken I would be if I were to lose all of that? More than a goldarn smidget.

So, the biggest story from the past week is probably how popular gaming forum NeoGaf went offline for the weekend after the owner of the website got himself in some major trouble. The kind involving massive sexual harassment and what, from what I heard, basically amounts to rape. I regularly visited the forum, mostly just to peruse the news that my usual sites miss out on and pick up on things that many outlets would not report on. It was a very good place for information, but I and many others decided to jump ship from this site because, yeah, no, you cannot really wash away the toxicity that comes with that kind of association. So instead I and a bunch of other people are now getting news from a successor called Reset Era. Heh. Cute. (more…)
Apologies for not getting a Hyperdevotion Noire review up. Work, school, and family stuff all cut into the time I could put into that game. Review should be up tomorrow evening. Also, on May 31st I will (hopefully) release a novella I’m currently working on called Maple Loves Senpai. It’s a story about a Japanese schoolgirl who gets absorption powers and is guided by the voice of her lover to consume people in order to transform herself into his ultimate waifu. Many stereotypes and dark themes ensue. (more…)
Metal Gear Solid V came out this week, and people are unsurprisingly adoring the game. However, even if I weren’t keeping to my word to not buy the game before September 1, 2017, as to make my claim that I wouldn’t buy the game for ‘years’, I don’t think I’d be that interested. Quite simply, the base building, open world, and ranking systems all sound like the worst thing you could do with a narrative driven stealth game. Missions? Fine. But ranking and grading systems stir all sorts of bad anxieties inside my butthole. (more…)
And E3 is done… Kinda. Yes, I know the first proper day just happened, but after the press events, my work is mostly done, and 90% of the announcements are out of the way. It’s just impressions from here on out, which is just dandy in my book. However, Nintendo, Square Enix, and AMD all had press conferences, so I’ll just get to explaining what the blazes they were about, and what my Autistic mind thought about them. (more…)
So, there is very clearly something going on with Zero Escape 3. I did not bring up the countdown website as nothing had happened, but it has recently updated and Kotaro Uchikoshi tweeted out some cryptic numbers, which when gven their letter value turn into FNJANUUVNWXOXDAFXAM and KYVCFEXVJKEZXYKNZCCYRMVREVEU. When put through a Caesar Cipher decryption, which involves the letter value being shifted by a set amount, 17 for the first one, 9 for the second one, you get the messages WE ARE ALL MEN OF OUR WORD and THE LONGEST NIGHT WILL HAVE AN END. You know what that means? Ever 17’s getting a re-release, and the previous two Zero Escape titles are coming to PC along with part 3… I know I got that wrong, but a girl can dream, can’t they?
