I personally am not a germaphobe or neat freak by any means, but there are two things that generally speaking freak me out whenever I see, and I see them frequently. People eating food with unwashed hands and people lounging around in their home in “outside clothes”. My reasoning for this stems from the fact that the outside world is filthy, everything is dirty, and while people lack the ability to fully control the unclean, they should take care to not ingest vile germs or bring them into their home. I have not gotten sick in a decade and want to continue that streak, and the idea of bringing germs into the home makes me want to immediately jump into the shower when I get home after work. Sure, I change my clothes and wash my hands, but my hair may as well have been dumped into a garbage bin.

You know how they say you cannot have too much of a good thing? Yeah, that is complete nonsense. After last week’s rundown, where I was positively ecstatic about how Bowsette blew up, it completely went wild after a while, with thousands of people “jumping on the bandwagon” and drawing their own interpretations of the character, including some especially well known artists. Things went completely nuts once Japan found the fan art, and proceeded to turn Bowsette into the highest trending topic on Japanese Twitter, and continued to flood Twitter, Pixiv, and more with an absolute deluge of art.

I’m going to avoid talking about the thing that happened over the past week and go on a completely unrelated tangent. Why do some Japanese developers insist on using 2D animated anime cutscenes in fully 3D games with a high level of visual fidelity and an anime-esque art style. It doesn’t happen much, but whenever it does, it always looks poor in comparison to anything done in-engine, as the level of detail in the models and the smoothness of the animations are better than anything that could reasonably done by an outside studio. Yet some games still make use of this practice, the first that come to mind being Catherine, Danganronpa: Ultra Despair Girls, CyberConnect 2’s Naruto games, Dragon Ball Xenoverse, and even the upcoming Persona 5. I rarely ever have good material to begin these segments with, as they are very disposable, and not very good. Heck, the majority of Rundowns I’ve done in the past weren’t good either. This is a segment that, much like every other aspect of this blog, exists solely for my own selfish reasons. Sorry, I’m in the well of despair again, and I’ll surely get out of it for the 178th time. I am surprised that Sega has not tried to shut down Sonic World, as it is basically a refined and reworked best-of compilation of Sonic Adventure 1, 2, and Heroes, all games I grew up with and love in a way, even if they don’t play very well. But seeing that combined with enough care and autistic fan devotion to add in every possible playable character from Heavy and Bomb to Fang the Sniper makes me jitter in sheer disbelief that this is real. True, I only played two levels of the game as Knuckles before I realized that this game was definitely still in an alpha or pre-alpha state and put it down, but if it is ever completed, this fan-game may very well be the best Sonic game.
