Steam is both the best thing to happen to the game industry within the past few years and the worst. I’d be surprised if more than 10% of people who actively use the service have a fully up to date collection of games with no backlog whatsoever. But with my already decent library, I picked up a few games I hope to trail blaze through. So here’s what I think about the 2012 title, Thomas Was Alone. (more…)

It is a weird feeling to try and critique a work that was mostly done by one individual, but in a setting where they are not likely to ever be aware of it. Especially after they poured three years of work into a project that was lucky enough to get funded by Microsoft, a move that Sony seems to be all about nowadays. But did a wise man not say that all games should be judged sternly and fairly, regardless of their origins or creative team? Yeah, probably, but I should probably start talking more directly about Dust: An Elysian Tale.
Hey, I’m posting this ahead of schedule, because I plan on squealing over PAX East when it ends, where I’ll pretty much link to Destructoid’s coverage while typing out words of happy and cynicism.
