04) The Reviews Will Never End!

I’m steadily approaching the 7th anniversary of this site’s quaint little existence, and with it over 7 full years of reviewing every game I played for a significant amount of time, amounting to something like 370 reviews in total, only 230 of which are still public. In that time, I have begun associating the very act of playing a game with the act of collecting my thoughts, writing the review, editing it with varying levels of thoroughness, gathering a sample of the hundreds of screenshots I took, and posting it onto this site where it likely will not garner any real attention, as the only things people come here for are my Press-Switch and Student Transfer reviews. Or rather my flowcharts. It has become such a big part of gaming for me that I honestly cannot ever see myself stopping, and even if I did, I would assuredly miss the sense of closure that penning a review provides. But enough about reviews. This is a rundown, so rundown some gaming news!

Yep! I am still going to post these every Sunday because gosh darn it I really do find pleasure in reviewing the happenings in the video game industry every week and talking about them. It’s fun, cathartic, and does not take up a lot of my time. As such, Rundowns will carry forth for the next… however long. Oh my great goodness to gargantuan proportions, Mark Haynes (Alvin Earthworm) is rebooting Super Mario Bros. Z! I loved this man’s original work, it was one of my favorite things in the world when I was still toiling around newgrounds in the late ots with my friend, who I think is dead now. Seeing this man pull himself out of the furry hole and a meaningless existence as a dishwasher is so hopeful, so joyous, and something I will undoubtedly support on Patreon. Yes, I have a lot of nostalgia for this sprite based fighting series, but I still think it’s amazing. (more…)

Steam Summer Sales started serenely and sadly my selection of specific software ‘s selling-price stayed- screw this shaz. I keep a list of reservation prices I keep for certain games, which I adhere to well, and there were not a ton of games whose selling price dropped beneath the reservation price. So far I got Metro Redux and Epic Fantasy Battle 4 because I have some nostalgia for mid-ots Newgrounds. I will get Momodora III, Dysfunctional Systems: Learning to Manage Chaos, and DreadOut as the sale ends, but will wait to see if there are any dailies. I set myself a limit of $100 to spend, which is harder because I need to now pay taxes on Steam purchases… (more…)

Over the past year, or I guess 11 months is more accurate, I have been working on a novel that I originally was posting here. I deleted those posts, edited them, and added about 130 more pages, amounting to 150-ish that I want to put on the Amazon Kindle Market. Problem is that I do not know my tax information so it may indeed be a while until I properly post it for the dollar I need to charge for it. I mean, it would be $0.37 if I had my way, but no… Also, I don’t have any tax forms so expect it to take a while as I figure this shit out. (more…)
